Princess Charming

Princess Charming

Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Aleena and I am a freshman.I was on July 28 in Mesquite, Texas. In my life, I want to see and experience things that will effect me in a positive way in my future. I am someone that you can always depend on. To complete a task, I always depend on the love of others and the love that I have for myself. My family plays a big role in my life. They are the ones who have helped me succeed in everything that I do. Some of my hobbies include playing tennis, Indian dance, Indian music, and spending time with my friends and family. Some of my strengths include always being on task, caring for others, and focusing on my goals. Some of my weaknesses include being a perfectionist, and managing my time.

Here are my amazing parents. My dad is a CPA, and my mom is a nurse!

As you can see, I have a huge family! I have three brothers, Albert, Alexander, and Abraham. Albert is a sophomore, Alexander is in first grade, and Abraham is in Pre-K. It's wonderful having three brothers, but it can also get lonely since I'm the only girl!

The Journey in Search of Knowledge

My Journey to Learn More!

My journey in life is to learn more. I want to gain more knowledge. One of my goals is to become a pharmacist, therefore, I want to go to college, and get a degree in pharmacy. This is one of many of the goals that I seek to reach. Becoming a pharmacist is so important to me because I want to earn a living on my own. I want to be an independent individual. I know that there will be many obstacles along the way, but I plan to overcome them with the help of my family, friends, and my teachers. Being victorious in this journey will greatly affect my family and friends. They will have so much pride in saying that I have achieved such an incredible goal in my life!

The Mentors

My Dance Teachers

My dance teachers Sangita Raghunathan and Radhika Ganesh have taught me so much about life itself. They have nurtured me in the world of dance and in my life. They have taught me everything that I will need to know when I step out into the real world. My dance teachers have tried so hard to make me excel in all my dance competitions, and they have definitely succeeded. They have been there for me in times of sadness, anger, and happiness. Going back to one of the most important events in my life, August 16,2008, one can clearly see that these dance teachers have impacted my life so greatly. On August 16, I had my first solo debut dance program. Both of my teachers trained me so that I would be able to perform flawlessly in my program. Even though it took a lot of hard work and dedication, it was such a great experience for my family and I. One of the instances in which one of my dance teachers, Sangita Raghunathan, has acted as my mentor is during my solo dance program. My dance teacher told me to just do my best and not be afraid of falling or forgetting my steps. This was such a great piece of advice that my teacher told me. An instance in which my other dance teacher, Radhika Ganesh, has acted as my mentor is during another program that I had. She told me to make sure that I think about how much I love to dance, and have fun on stage. Both of my teachers have taught me so much over the years, and I love my dance teachers so much!

The Threshold Guardian

My Music Teacher

This is a type of Indian string instrument that is played during music programs! My music teacher plays this instrument!

My music teacher has been and will always be my threshold guardian. My music teacher tests my knowledge in so many ways, to the point where I just break down! Even though I fall, she teaches me life lessons and helps me along the way. She has always been a very strict teacher, but she is one of the best music teachers out there. The great thing about going to music class is that it is all a huge challenge. My music teacher has made me cry and made me leap for joy. My music teacher is an obstacle, yet an ally. I still remember when I went to music class, without memorizing the new song that she had taught us. My music teacher made me sit outside of the classroom and learn the song. After that, she told me to come inside and sing it for her. One can imagine the tension that had just built up in my heart. Like I said, my music teacher gives us challenges, and we must face them without hesitation. My music teacher has helped grow in the study of Indian music and in life. The great thing about my music teacher is that she also teaches us life lessons! She always tells us that once we do our part, it is all in the hands of God. My teacher isn't even Christian, yet we share the same morals and values. I am truly grateful to God for giving such an amazing and wise music teacher!

The Shadows in my Life!

My Shadows

One of my shadows is definitely chocolate! Chocolate is a shadow in my life because it's not good for you health! Chocolate helps me when I'm sad and happy. One reason why chocolate is my shadow is because it stops me from remaining healthy, and maintaining a healthy weight. Of course, no girl can live without chocolate! It's great to have once in a while!

Facebook is a shadow in my life because it causes me to waste my time. When I don't have homework, I am always on facebook. Facebook, in a way, can be very dangerous, and unfortunately can put your life in danger if you do not pay careful attention to the people that you add as friends. Facebook is a shadow in my life because it stops me from completing certain tasks!

Television has always and will always be a shadow in my life. Television also stops me from completing my goals. If I'm not doing homework or on facebook then I'm probably watching television. Television is also horrible to watch all the time, because it can show inappropriate images that is not good for a teenager girl, like me, to be watching. Unfortunately, most of the television shows do not make a positive impact on my life in anyway what so ever! Television has not necessarily made a positive impact in my life!

The Tricksters

My Little Brothers......Of Course!

My little brothers, Alexander and Abraham, are the tricksters in my life. They are the ones who bring the joy and laughter into our lives. Alexander is seven, and Abraham is five, and yes, they are really mischievous. I still remember when I was practicing my dance, Alexander would come and watch me. Well, Indian dance is all about telling a story, therefore, I was pretending to cry. Alexander ran up to my dad and said "She dancing, crying, and I'm getting scared!" Alexander is the sweetest brother in the house. Yet, he can be such a trickster. Abraham has also had his share of jokes. Hopefully, the people who are reading this have heard of Saturday Night Live. Well, there was one episode about a girl named Gilly. She is such a freaky character! My little brother started imitating her! He started saying the exact same lines as her, and he even made the same face as her! What an actor! My little brothers are the ones that I go to when I need a little laugh. I am so glad that I have these two little ones in my life!

My Loyal Companions

My Friends!

These are my loyal companions, or in other words, my best friends! My friends are the people that I can depend on. My friends are the people that I can share secrets with and talk to openly and freely. My friends have helped me in so many ways that one could not even imagine. My loyal companions help me overcome any obstacles that come in my path. For example, Joslin always helps me on my math homework. She is the main reason for why I am making the grades that I am in my math class. Without her assistance, I wouldn't have been able to do well in my math class. She has been one of my most supportive friends throughout my freshman year in high school. My friends have always been there for me and always will be. Sure, we have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I know they'll always stay by my side!

Special Help from a Divine Force

My Faith

I am very proud to say that I am Catholic! God has helped me in so many ways. I have always depended on God to help me, after I have worked hard and done my part. God is the true person who has helped me achieve my goals. One of the ways that God has helped me is through this whole school year. He has been the one who has helped me pass all my classes and receive commended performance on both my Taks tests. I know that I won't have my family and friends in my life forever, but I know that I will have God. I believe that God is the one who has given me the talent and graces that I need to be happy in this world. God has given me so much that I should be thankful for! I love God so much!

There Is Only One Me!

Me!

I am so proud to be Indian! It has such a diverse culture that I am proud to be a part of! Being Indian is a part of me that no one can take away. From the rice, to the chicken curry, and to the paneer! Yeah, I'm lucky that I get to taste all of the different foods from India! The greatest thing about being Indian is that I get to actually visit India from time to time! Going to India is always one of those things that I look forward to! It's a great place for me to escape for a vacation! Seeing the Taj Mahal was definitely a great experience for me, because not a lot of people get to visit that amazing palace! I am also different from everyone else because I am a dancer! Dancing is my life, and I am so lucky that I have such great teachers! Not everyone can just get on stage and start dancing, and I am obviously thankful to God for giving me the talent and grace to do so. Another thing that makes me different from everyone else is that I received the Principal Distinction Award this year. It may not mean a lot to others, but it does to me. I felt very happy and glad that I was recognized for the hard work that I do at school! Being a family of six also makes me different from others. Yes, we are a big family! The four children of the house can be troublemakers, but we are truly the ones who make up the family! You have got to love us!

An Unhealed Wound

My Uncle

On January 6, 2003 by uncle passed away. He died because he committed suicide from depression. I still remember the day we got the news. My mom, clutching the phone in her hand, weeping, leaning against the wall. This is one image that has stayed clear in my mind. My uncle and his family had come from India, and it was very hard for him to adjust to the American way of life. He was used to taking his time at work, but here everything must be done on time, and you must keep track of your schedule. This was such a different way of life that my uncle couldn't handle it. I still get emotional when I talk about this, because he was totally fine in India. If he had not come to America with his family, he would have been fine. I know that what happened wasn't any one's fault, because God makes plans for everyone. My uncle and I weren't very close, but he did have a special place in my heart. My family and I visit his grave from time to time, and we pray that my uncle is having the time of his life in heaven. One fond memory that I have of my uncle is that he would always give us Werther's Original, the candy! He even told me to take a whole packet of it one day! This shows that my uncle was very generous and had a very big heart! I love my uncle so much, and I am thankful to God for giving me such a loving uncle like him!

Holy Communion

My First Holy Communion

I had my first holy communion when I was in the third grade. It was such an auspicious time in my life. This was the first time that I received the Eucharist! It made me feel so big and special! This is such an important time in my life because this is a part of my faith and my beliefs. My first holy communion also meant a lot to my family and friends! I still remember when I was walking down the aisle holding a candle, which represents Jesus, the light of the world, I was so nervous! My hands were trembling because I was actually inviting Christ into my life! You see, receiving holy communion is one of those things that all the youngsters look forward to. When I finally received communion, I felt so grateful for life and everything that I have even today. I had two of the most important priests in my life present at my holy communion. They were the ones who had led the mass. The funny thing is that Alexander had is Baptism on the same day as my holy communion. This event made that day even more special! Both, Alexander and I, where letting God into our hearts, with both of our arms open! We had a wonderful celebration afterwards, with great food and all our family and friends. It was definitely one of those days that I will keep close to my heart for the rest of my life!
